Getting started
Why do I need an AI provider key?
Storybook Studio writes and illustrates stories with an AI provider you choose: OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic. You add your own key from your account with them, and they charge you for what you use. The app walks you through getting a key.
Is my key safe?
Your key is kept in your phone’s secure keystore and is sent only to its own provider. It is never sent to us and never included in a backup.
Can my child use the app?
Your child reads finished books in Reader mode. Making books, adding keys and sharing are in the parent area, behind a parental check.
Books & sharing
Where are my books kept?
On your phone. We don’t keep a copy. With Pro you can back them up to your own Google Drive.
How do I share a book?
Sign in with Google, then share the book from its overview. Anyone with the link can read it in their browser for 30 days, or until you revoke it.
How do I report a book?
Use Flag on the page in the app, or Report in the web viewer for a shared book. We review every report.
Pro
How do I restore Pro on a new phone?
Sign in to Google Play with the account you bought Pro with, and restore your purchase in the app.
How do I get a refund?
Pro is bought through Google Play, so refunds are handled by Google Play. AI provider charges are with your provider.

How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Account and choose Delete my account. Our account deletion page explains what is deleted and how to ask by email.
What data do you collect?
Very little: your account and share links if you share a book, reports and Pro purchases. Everything else stays on your phone or goes only to your AI provider, as described in our Privacy Policy.
